Creases ruin any OOTD, no matter how trendy and stylish it is. Spend a little bit of time ironing and steaming your clothes. Thankfully, it won’t be a pain to do with Philips Garment Care solutions.

This won’t be the first time I’ll declare it on the blog (here’s another post where I did), but I love ironing clothes—more than washing them. I’m one of those people who would say, “Pagplantsahin mo na ako, ‘wag mo lang akong paglabahin.”

When I was in college, I would lay out my outfits for the entire week and iron them on Sundays. I did the same all the way to my first few years as an employee, before my schedule got the better of me and I would often put on rumpled clothes. I eventually made a conscious effort to only buy clothes I wouldn’t need to iron.

And then I met my husband, and he’s one of those guys who love to steam and iron clothes—almost everyday, as part of his morning routine. He used to be a hotelier, so it was part of his job to always look put together (well, as the editor of big lifestyle websites, it was also part of my job to always look put together, but I found ways without having to iron clothes too often, lol). Even now that we’re married, I’d always find him ironing his shirts and pants before we step out of the house. It’s inspiring, haha.

So one of the first few things I insisted we purchase for our home was a new iron and ironing board. The next target? A garment steamer. I was so happy to bring home the Philips EasyTouch Plus Garment Steamer from a recent Philips Garment Care solutions event. Philips makes ironing easy with heat and steam innovations through a wide range of garment care solutions made for every purpose.

Philips steamer

The Philips EasyTouch Plus Garment Steamer is designed for easy crease removal and quick touch-ups to delicate and difficult to iron clothes. Its steam plate is larger by 25%, which can cover more fabric area efficiently in one stroke. It also allows you to set your preferred steam settings for optimal results on different kinds of fabric, with an adjustable pole for various height levels. The pink version (P7,495) has three settings, while the new gold one (P12,495) has five.

Philips Garment Steamer generates penetrating powerful steam pressure with its PureSteam technology, enabling you to remove creases with only a few strokes, while automatically descaling as it generates steam. As their celebrity ambassador Mari Jasmine attests, “Philips Garment Steamer helps us avoid one of our steamer pet peeves: dripping, wet splotches or water stains on clothes.”

One feature I find really convenient is the special garment hanger which makes it easier to steam clothes and keeps you from burning your hand in the process. The steamer also comes with a large detachable water tank for easy refill anytime, suitable for long steaming sessions. The hose of the steamer is made of silicon material, which is safer to use with steam.

Philips also has a Steam & Go hand-held steamer, which Mari Jasmine brings when she travels.“It’s easier to get creases using steamer. I travel with a hand-held steamer since not all hotels have it, and you need to touch up all your crumpled clothes from your luggage,” she said.

Now, here’s a caveat: Steamer is for secondary ironing—you still need an iron. The steamer can do what an iron can’t, especially when removing creases on long fabrics, like curtains and very long dresses. But for most clothes, ironing is still a must after washing. Don’t worry because Philips’ range of steam and dry irons supposedly guarantee no more tedious ironing, no more burning clothes!

Try the Philips PerfectCare Azur, which can supposedly iron any ironable garment from silk and linen to cotton and cashmere. With its OptimalTEMP Technology feature, it has a greatt combination of steam and temperature, which can help you with speedy ironing of your favorite clothes.

I also particularly liked this Philips PerfectCare Viva Smart Steam Iron (P18,995), which no longer has settings you need to adjust manually; it can detect the fabric you are ironing and automatically adjust the heat settings accordingly. No more burning clothes ever, even when you accidentally leave it on the fabric! You can use it both as a dry and steam iron, with a 1.7L water tank capacity. It even self-cleans and has an eco-mode for when you want to save more electricity. It’s pretty amazing.
