I take a break from all the food and restaurant reviews I do once in a while by treating myself to some fast food, which is, generally speaking, my comfort food. I recently tried KFC’s Double Down Dog and enjoyed it, but lately, the one fast food fave I can’t seem to get enough of (I’ve had it at least four times in the past week) is Jollibee’s Glazed Chickenjoy.
I always get the Value Meal (C8), which includes one piece of Glazed Chickenjoy, one side dish (choice of soup, corn, or mashed potatoes—of course I always get mashed potatoes and tell them to not give me the rice that comes with it because I won’t eat it anyway), and a regular drink. For P102, it’s a filling meal that will leave you satisfied and not bloated (except, perhaps, if you also finish the rice, then for sure, busog). You can also get the Value Meal without the side dish for just P90.
I love the sweet, savory sauce that evenly coats the crispy Chickenjoy. And, I’m not sure if it’s all big parts or I just always request it, but to be sure, like me, always ask the person taking your order to give you a big part (thigh or breast).
If I may compare the sauce to that of another new favorite fast food dish, KFC’s Spicy Gangnam Chicken, it has a similar sweet and savory taste, but without the heat.
And, again, to answer the question in my title, if it were up to me, I’d like for it to stay, of course! I will always like Chickenjoy, but I have moods for that. When, like me, you’re craving something more flavorful and saucy—like a Filipino-style buffalo chicken—you will definitely enjoy this!
So if you’re thinking of where to have lunch right now, this may just be your best bet if there’s a Jollibee near you. Tell me what you think by posting a comment here later!
