No matter how people feel about Valentine’s Day, personally, I’ve always found a reason to celebrate it. When I was single, I’d enlist my single girl friends to exchange flowers or gather all single friends for a drink. And from the time we became a couple up to now that we’re married, my husband and I always make it a point to do something special on Valentine’s Day, whether we’re in the same city or not.

Since I love Valentine’s Day—and other celebrations that give me an excuse to wine and dine with my husband and other loved ones—I thought I’d share with you a couple of ideas for celebrating it, whether you’re single or not, if you happen to be in Iloilo, the City of Love. After all, on Feb. 14, we celebrate love in all its forms—not just romantic love, but also love for family, love for friends, and even…unrequited love (*wink*).

RHI THE GRANARY_Buffet

The Granary

This year, my husband and I will enjoy a romantic dinner at Richmonde Hotel Iloilo’s The Granary, which offers a Valentine’s Day dinner buffet that you too can indulge in with the people dearest to you, be it your significant other, your family, or your fellow single friends.

For P1,150 net (inclusive of bottomless lemonade), enjoy the delightful feast that consists of an assortment of appetizers, a charcuterie station, entrées, carvings of lechon roll and braised beef chuck roll, and sweet desserts. The open kitchen also features a la minute cooking of tempura, grilled meats, laksa, tom yum, and pasta—which is what my husband and I are looking forward to the most. If you’re bringing kids along, children 5 years old and younger eat for free, while those between 6 to 12 years old get 50% off.

RHI BIZBAR 3

BizBar

I know it’s easy to hate V-Day when you’re single and heartbroken, but trust me, it’s better to turn the day around and make it fun! In fact, even my husband and I will be partying with the singles at Richmonde Hotel Iloilo’s BizBar after dinner, even if it’s an anti-Valentine’s Day party, haha!

RHI No to VD - Free Cheese Platter for Wine orders

Dubbed “No to VD,” the event will be devoid of mushy romance (except maybe our PDA, LOL) but filled with fun and freebies for the fabulously unattached (wait, couples don’t get prizes?!), like a complimentary Zabana Anti-Love Potion cocktail. There’s also a free cheese platter for every bottle order of house or premium wine. They also have a buy one, get one promo on San Mig Light beer, and a 1-4-3 promo on Heineken draft beer and Zabana cocktails (1 glass free 4 every 3 glasses ordered, get it?).

RHI No to VD - 143 on Zabana Cocktails

BizBar’s No to VD Party freebies include free cheese platter for every bottle order of wine and a
1-4-3 promo on Heineken Beer & Zabana cocktails

Happily single (or in our case, coupled up) or still getting over a heartache, you’ll find your spirits lifted as you dance to the retro mixes of DJ Enzo of Fatboidjs. Make sure to give it your all because you just might win a hotel gift certificate if you’re chosen as Star Dancer of the Night! Another hotel gift certificate will be up for grabs for the Valentine “hater” with the best Instagram party post and caption with #BizBarNOtoVD.

The Love is Love Valentine’s Dinner Buffet is available at The Granary on Feb. 14 from 6pm to 10pm, while the NO to VD Anti-Valentine’s Day Party happens on the same night at BizBar starting 8pm. See you there!
