Tagaytay will always be a favorite road trip destination among Metro Manila (even Luzon) folk, and one of the main reasons is its wealth of great dining choices, from breakfast to hangover food (hello, bulalo). It is considered one of the country’s top food destinations, offering local produce from the fertile land around Taal Volcano. While we all have our go-to restaurants there, the fun part is finding new culinary gems to try. Taal Vista Hotel’s Taza Fresh Table is one of them—I’ve listed some of their must-try dishes in this food feature.

But there’s a new reason to visit Taza Fresh Table: Their resident Chef Jayme Natividad has created a breakfast menu that will be worth the trip. The brunch menu includes comfort food like Steak and Eggs, Eggs Benedict, Southern Fried Chicken Served with Waffles, French Toast, and Omelette. They may sound pretty ordinary or typical, but I guarantee, you won’t regret waking up early in the morning for Taza’s versions of these breakfast staples.
Southern Fried Chicken Served With Waffles
The Southern Fried Chicken is cooked well: crispy, light, and comes in a good portion—although you can have as much of it as you want anyway! It paired so well with the waffles, gravy, and syrup served with it.
French Toast
Their French Toast is made of very soft round bread with a bit of crust, instead of the typical rectangular slice, and is soaked with maple syrup with a hint of cinnamon, then topped with banana.
Champorado station
They offer a wide variety of breakfast staples in their buffet spread, including quiche (with the savory flavor of the bacon and cheese in it) and their must-try champorado—it’s so good and rich, made of heirloom rice (malagkit) and Alfonso Tablea dark chocolate. And you can also order a cup of rich, creamy, sweet Alfonso Hot Chocolate (which somewhat reminded me of Chocnut, hehe) to go with your breakfast.
Eggs Benedict
You can also order eggs the way you want it, but you really have to try their Omelette and Eggs Benedict. The Eggs Benedict is made with smoked ham and sits atop soft and sweet bread. It’s mouth-watering! The eggs are soft and cooked perfectly, and the smoked ham has a light yet distinct flavor. Meanwhile, the Ham & Cheese Omelette is sinfully oozing with cheese, it will surely perk you up!
Omelette
The restaurant’s popular fares will also be offered during breakfast (in smaller portions), such as Taza Salad, Kale Salad, Pizza (Margherita, Four Cheese, Salsa Verde with Pancetta), Pasta (Papardelle Caccio e Pepe), Tomahawk Pork Chop, Homemade Smoked Bacon (my favorite!), and desserts like Molten Chocolate Cake, Vanilla Bean Custard, Olive Oil Ice Cream, and Cannoli with Ube Ricotta and Langka Cream (most of which I’ve written about here).
Steak and Eggs
Their breakfast portion of the Homemade Smoked Bacon is thinner, but you can have as much as you want, so I can’t complain! It’s still as delicious as I remember it: tender, juicy, and saccharine, with a nice char to it.
To allow you to enjoy breakfast as leisurely as you want, any day of the week, Taza Fresh Table now has longer breakfast hours—until 3PM in fact! You can try all of these for P900 net, or if you’re staying at Taal Vista Hotel (click here to book your stay via Agoda), you can just add P300 to upgrade the breakfast that comes with your hotel stay to enjoy your breakfast at Taza Fresh Table instead.
