The older I get, the less I want to go out and drink. Don’t get me wrong, I still love to drink, haha. But these days, I prefer to drink at home. One of the biggest reasons is I’m a mom now, so I don’t really have much time to go out drinking with my friends or even my husband. What my husband and I love to do now is drink at home on weekends while binge-watching shows on Netflix after our daughter goes to bed. On particularly stressful work days, we treat ourselves to a glass (or two) before bed.

Even what we drink has changed. At home, we prefer the simple and the familiar: white wine or bubbly, usually; soju when we’re watching a Korean drama. We like to just pour ourselves drinks at home. Back when we used to go out often, we loved trying craft cocktails at different bars. On rare occasions when my parents are staying over to spend time with our daughter, we still enjoy trying a new drink or two at a newly opened bar. But these days, when we do drink, we have our go-to cocktails: margarita for me, an old fashioned or gin and tonic for my husband.

So when I was asked if I wanted to try Tanqueray’s new Blackcurrant Royale, I was thrilled for my husband because he loves his G&T; and for myself because we can actually make G&T at home that I just might like, haha. For the record, I do love Tanqueray in my cocktails.

Tanqueray is renowned for its world-class distillation craftsmanship, which continues to captivate gin enthusiasts in the Philippines. With the launch of this new innovative yet still well-balanced flavor, their legacy of being an excellent gin carries on. Inspired by the French heritage and travels of Charles Tanqueray, The Blackcurrant Royale embodies the essence of savoring the finer moments and living life magnificently.

This stunning variant combines juicy blackcurrants with delicate vanilla and four Legendary Tanqueray Botanicals: piney juniper, peppery coriander, aromatic angelica, and sweet liquorice, leaning into the enchanting allure of a French summer day.

If you want to elevate a classic cocktail like the Gin and Tonic or change up your favorite drink with a twist, you can surely make a drink that stands out from color to taste using this versatile spirit. It has a smooth finish and aromatic profile that feels elegant, sophisticated, and indulgent all at the same time. Tanqueray recommends that you enjoy the Blackcurrant Royale with plenty of ice, lemonade, a wedge of lemon, and a handful of dark berries.

I tried the recommended mix above and found that the blackcurrant flavor really shines through, even with the lemonade (I used a sweetened one). I prepared another glass, this time with just tonic water and berries, and I found this to be my preferred way to enjoy G&T. The gin flavor came out more when it was just Blackcurrant Royale with tonic water. I ended up having another (third) glass!
