I’ve been doing yoga on and off since 2007—almost a decade now!—and I can guarantee that it has really helped me keep fit, even when I’m unable to stick to a strict diet. I say on and off because sometimes, when work gets too demanding and the yoga studio I go to is not near where I work, I tend to take a yoga hiatus.
Well, here’s a bit of good news for those who work or live in BGC, and who want a little more help in making sure they stick to their 2016 resolution to get fit and use the gym or yoga studio membership they signed up for: L!FE Yoga Studio, Bonifacio Global City’s newest health hub, which opened just last October, makes yoga a bit more fun for those who get bored easily or who are worried they might fall asleep in a quiet yoga room.
Combining yoga, music, food, and art, L!FE aims to be BGC professionals and residents’ go-to spot in the area for everything healthy, hip, and fun. Located at Eight Forbestown Road in Burgos Circle, BGC, the two-story lifestyle center houses a yoga studio where various classes are held daily. It also features a café called Vibe, where Sprout and Fruit Magic serve whole foods, salads, snacks, and fresh juices.
Currently home to 12 instructors, the studio is set to offer 12 classes a day on weekdays and 6 classes a day on weekends, both of the heated and non-heated varieties. Each class aims to be an experience in itself, aptly named by the instructors who have backgrounds in Ashtanga, Bikram, Hatha, Yin, and Vinyasa.
LA-based yoga instructor Drinnie Aguilar helps a student perfect a pose.
Classes include Ash-Asana, Hot Beat, Feel Good Flow, Rock N’ Flow, Goin’ Yun, and Spiritual Warrior. Class rates start at P6,800 for a package of 10 classes, or P680 per class; per-class rate gets cheaper the more classes you avail in one enrolment.
L!FE aims to veer from traditional forms of yoga, as it capitalizes on music’s power over the human physique: Sometimes classes are done with the presence of a DJ, who can directly set the vibe and provide the right tempo to flow through the class. It also adds a bit more fun and funk to what otherwise could be just another session.
Completing its four-part approach to wellness, the studio makes room for artistic installations and pursuits. Even the yoga rooms themselves—even the locker area, I wish I can show you, haha—are all decorated with lively and colorful murals.
