If you’re one of those who avoided malls and restaurants like the plague last night but would still like to have a post-Valentine’s Day dinner tonight, why don’t you check out these dining options at Shangri-La Plaza? And should you not have the time to do so tonight, you can rest assured you’ll find loads of gastronomic choices in this mall along EDSA-Shaw Boulevard for whenever you feel like dining out for whatever occasion.

I’ll be updating this blog post soon with my detailed reviews of some of the dishes I tried in each of these restaurants. But for the time being, here’s a list of must-try foodie havens in Shang:

1. Duck and Buvette

French-style cooking takes centerstage at Duck and Buvette, a restaurant and bakery that serves French comfort food. One of their bestsellers is the Crispy Half Duck Confit, which is cooked three days in advance using a slow cooking technique. Aside from their unique dishes that I will feature on the blog soon, you can also check out their freshly baked breads and pizzas using their own cultivated wild yeast.

2. Teddy’s Bigger Burgers

This newest Manila branch of Hawaii’s #1 burger chain offers burgers unique to this particular branch. Their latest is the Great Kahuna Line, which features 1/4lb burgers made of Teddy’s 100% USDA Ground Chuck Patty combined with interesting topping combinations.

Gyu-Kaku’s Crispy Pork Belly

3, Gyu-Kaku

Craving Japanese? Here’s something new to try at Shang. Inspired by the Japanese style of cooking called “yakiniku,” Gyu-Kaku’s tables have a built-in grill so you can cook the food yourself.

Chang’s Chicken Lettuce Wraps

4. P.F. Chang’s

Ortigas folk can now rejoice that there’s a P.F. Chang’s branch near you! This Chinese-American fusion restaurant offers traditional Chinese fare with a twist, while its bar serves wines and signature cocktail mixes. P.F. Chang’s dishes are prepped the healthy way, using a wok to shorten cooking time to lock in the food’s nutrients and sans MSG. The restaurant also features a gluten-free menu, prepared in a separate station in the kitchen.

5. California Pizza Kitchen

Craving pizza tonight? There’s CPK for you. Aside from old favorites like The Original BBQ Chicken, you can try their new menu items, like the Veggie Pizza pictured above.

Chops’ Smoked Bacon with Broccoli

6. Chops

Of course, if you want to amp up the ambiance and the romance, go for a steak place. Chops Chicago Steakhouse offers a wide variety of steak dishes, from Porterhouse to Ribeye, USDA Certified Angus Beef and Wagyu. Make sure to get vino to go with your luxe meal.
