There’s so much negativity around us and we can’t understand why people who are evil and corrupt remain in (or return to) power while the poor get poorer and it seems the country is going down in the dumps. I can’t even bear to watch or read the news these days because of the depressing state of our country and government. But there’s something we can do about it: help out those in need. If the government can’t do it for us, average citizens who have the capability should go out there and do whatever they can to help.

I’m so happy more and more companies are coming up with ways to get their employees and communities involved in charity and volunteerism, and Globe Telecom went a step further and came up with a nationwide volunteering program called Time Please.

Time Please Globe

The Walt Disney Company South Asia EVP & Managing Director Mahesh Samat and Globe President and CEO Ernest Cu with Mickey and Minnie Mouse

Time Please, spearheaded by Globe and The Walt Disney Company Philippines, is a collaboration that encourages and empowers Filipinos to provide volunteer activities or participate in existing volunteer programs in groups with two to four members (it can even be just your family and friends). Time Please supports the telco’s commitment to nine of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and appeals to the Filipino strong culture of volunteerism rooted in the bayanihan spirit to collectively contribute to social development.

Companies, organizations, or groups with existing volunteer programs can also enlist their volunteer activities in the platform and get their volunteer hours registered in this initiative. Time Please provides a robust menu of volunteering activities and unites the volunteering ecosystem by connecting the volunteers to volunteer organizations using a simple, convenient, and easy to understand web platform. Through any device with online access, individuals from all regions in the Philippines can now sign up for free and form groups to join volunteer activities enrolled in Time Please.

If doing something good for our society is not reward enough, here’s a bit more incentive: Globe is giving out Globe Rewards points and other prizes to those who share their time in helping communities through Time Please.

From now until August 19, 2018, members of groups who will complete and register their volunteer hours through timeplease.ph will get 100 Globe Rewards points each. The group with the most number of volunteer hour credits at the end of the program will win an all-expense paid trip for four to Hong Kong Disneyland.

Globe partnered with iVolunteer Philippines and Gawad Kalinga to provide the sign-up platform. Running from May 25, 2018 to August 19, 2018, Time Please has generated close to a million volunteer hours to date.

Time Please is supported by about 40 organizations so far. Other organizations that have partnered with Globe include Couples for Christ, Armed Forces of the Philippines Reserve Command, Department of Education for Brigada Eskwela, Kris Library, Edicute Inc, Tulong sa Kapwa Kapatid, Kythe Foundation Inc, Oikos Helping Hand, and Philippine Toy Library.

More organizations have participated in the program: Special Olympics, Generation Hope, Yellow Warriors Society Philippines, Karinderia ni Mang Urot, Humanist Alliance Philippines International, Mano Amiga Philippines, All Together in Dignity Fourth World, Pusod Inc, Aral Pinoy, Citizens Disaster Response Center, Project Pearls, Visions of Hope, Progressive Assistance Canada, Dream Big Pilipinas, Haribon Foundation, Fostering Education & Environment for Development, as well as Make A Wish Philippines.

Pink Women on Fire, Save The Children, Virlanie Foundation Inc, CAPABLE Foundation, Vessels of Humanity, Kidlikasan. Kabataan. Kalikasan., Bahay Tuluyan, The Storytelling Project, He Cares Foundation, Yellow Boat of Hope Foundation, MovEd, and Nature Awareness and Conservation Club Inc. have also joined Time Please to entice more volunteers for their programs and activities.
