In our tropical climate, we need to be protected from the sun and the damage it causes skin all year round—rain or shine. Here are some products to grab from Neutrogena.

KV

Summer has come and gone, and I can honestly say I didn’t even have a beach trip to remember that season by. The beach trips did come after, and because it’s usually raining or overcast, in the rare times that the sun did make its appearance, you’d find me rushing to bask in its warm rays. It felt so good but oh so bad for my skin. I know, I know—I’ve committed a skin crime.

Years of writing about beauty products and tips did have an effect on me, and while I’m stubborn enough to still chase the sun, I do it protected from head to toe with sunscreen (yes, I spray sunscreen on my hair!). And afterwards, I soothe the damage with proper skincare.

Let me repeat this: You need to wear sunscreen whatever the season—summer, rainy, or even when you travel to places where there’s winter and fall (you can be sure I packed pots and tubes of sunscreen for my upcoming trip to the US). And even while the humidity makes us want to NOT put anything on our skin, we do need to moisturize because dehydration only makes our skin overcompensate and become greasy—which is the last thing we want to happen.

If you’re on the lookout for new skincare products to try, check out these hydration and sun protection essentials from Neutrogena. What I’ve noticed about their products ever since I started using them years ago is how they are consistently lightweight on skin—you don’t need to worry about being weighed down by gunk.

Sun Protection

Whenever I get asked what my anti-aging beauty secret is (apparently, my skin can still fool people into believing I’m in my late 20s, yes!), I just say one thing: sunscreen. I never leave home without it. I hoard sunscreen. It’s my tried-and-tested way to keep the years from showing on my face, stress notwithstanding.

I’ve tried and loved several brands, and you might want to try Neutrogena Ultra-Sheer Dry-Touch Sunscreen SPF50+, which boasts of a dermatologist-tested formula that contains Helioplex Technology. It helps prevent damaging UVA and UVB rays from penetrating deep under your skin’s surface and has a unique Dry-Touch technology that leaves a clean, lightweight, and non-shiny finish that does not make your face sticky. Make sure to use it daily, and reapply after bathing or sweating. They also have an Ultra Sheer Water Light Lotion that I like to apply all over my body because it’s fast-absorbing and weightless.

Hydration

Whether or not you overdid your sunbathing, and whether you think you have oily or dry skin, you need to moisturize. Neutrogena’s Hydro Boost line is great for all skin types, designed to help increase the water content of your skin by replenishing its water supply and by strengthening the skin’s moisture barrier to achieve smooth, supple, and younger-looking skin.

It has a unique ingredient called purified hyaluronic acid, which helps restore skin’s moisture and targets the areas that need it most. It’s a full skincare line that pretty much follows your skincare routine:

1. Wash away impurities without drying your skin using the Hydro Boost Mousse Cleanser.
2. Replenish lost moisture and keep skin hydrated all day long by applying the Hydro Boost Essence.
3. Improve skin texture so it looks great without or under makeup with the Hydro Boost Renewal Serum.
4. Lock in moisture and pile on the benefits that fight dullness, tighten pores, and smoothen dry lines using Hydro Boost Renewal Gel Cream.
