I’m a bit confused: It’s raining almost everyday, but it’s still so hot! I now carefully dress for both summer and the rainy season: Light-weight tops and bottoms, rain-friendly shoes, and a rain jacket. Of course I’ve had to adjust my makeup essentials, too.

When summer was hot and dry, I used my moisturizing UV foundation and lipsticks (especially because my face and lips become so dry in our super cold office). But these days, the weather has become extra humid, making my lipstick, eyeliner, and mascara melt and smudge, and my UV foundation now makes my face so oily. It doesn’t help that it always rains unexpectedly—it’s so sunny one moment, and then pouring the next—so I sometimes get caught walking around BGC without an umbrella, holding my hands over my eyes so my eyeliner and mascara won’t run.

Can you relate to these makeup stresses of living in a tropical country? Good thing there are makeup products made specifically for our humidity problems, and they’re all very affordable too—just within P350 to P600. Check out these four drugstore makeup finds from L’Oreal and Maybelline this coming pay-day weekend!

1. L’Oreal’s first powder lipstick, Tint Caresse (P350)

The first time I saw ads for Tint Caresse, I was immediately intrigued: I’ve always loved L’Oreal lipsticks, so I wanted to know how they can pull off one in powder form. I gave it a try, and it’s just as you imagined it: It looks like lipstick—with solid color, I must add—and feels like powder!

ORCHID PRODUCT SHOT

I love how it’s so lightweight—like I’m not wearing lipstick at all—and easy to apply. The color also lasts so long on my lips—it doesn’t feather or smudge, and resists transfer, even when I drink, eat—or kiss my boyfriend (haha, it’s now my go-to lipstick for when he’s in town, so I don’t get my lipstick on him!). It’s a bit drying when worn in a place as cold as our office, so I just wear it when I’m out and about.

Say goodbye to the hassles of traditional lipstick: how it feels heavy on your lips, how its sticky finish attracts dust, food crumbs, and stray hair, and even how messy it looks when it smudges and stains your clothes, coffee cups, and chin. It’s highly-pigmented, transfer-resistant, and has a powdery-matte finish. It has a sponge-tip applicator that allows you to wear it in three different ways:

ROSE LIP

1. Alone as a powder lipstick.
2. As a mattifying powder for lips. Just apply it on top of your current lipstick to transform the finish to matte. You can even mix and match to create new shades!
3. Create ombré lips. Dab and sweep the precise sponge tip to create artsy effects, like the Korean trend of gradient lips.

ORCHID LIP

Tint Caresse is available in eight shades that includes reds, pinks,, corals and nudes. Orchid Blossom (a pinkish purple shade, photo above) is my favorite.

2. Maybelline New York Lash Sensational Mascara (P429)

For beautifully full and flared lashes, try the latest mascara from my favorite mascara brand, Maybelline. What makes this particular tube stand out for me is how it doesn’t clump, flake, or smudge! It’s amazing! It’s great for everyday wear, perfect for busy working women like me who want instant drama, with zero mess—especially since I do my makeup while on my way to work in GrabCar, hehe.

Unlike other regular mascaras in the market, Maybelline Lash Sensational’s unique fanning brush is innovated with 10 layers of bristles, giving you a clean and flared volume effect—one that will still leave your lashes looking sleek and natural after application.

With a liquid ink formula that coats from all sides and opens up your eyes from corner to corner, the sensational brush and formula combination separates and lengthens lashes with just a few swipes. Just two coats are enough for me, but you may even apply three and it won’t clump, promise. I get compliments on my lashes whenever I wear it!

Infallible 16HR Powder - High Resolution

3. L’Oreal Makeup Designer/Paris Infallible Pro-Matte 16HR Powder (P600)

I loved last year’s mattifying powder foundation from L’oreal, Mat Magique, so I’m glad I have a new powder to love from the same brand to which I’m already hiyang. Boasting 16 hours of long-wear, this pressed powder promises lasting matte finish that doesn’t go flat. It stays lightweight and comfortable all day. Formulated with ultra-fine pigments, Infallible Pro-Matte keeps skin matte without caking, making it the ideal powder for setting liquid foundation.

It comes in six shades, and has its own sponge applicator and mirror underneath the compact, which makes application a bit tricky, but, tiis-ganda.

Infallible Pro-Spray & Set - High Resolution

4. L’Oreal Makeup Designer/Paris Infallible Pro-Set & Spray (P500)

Once you’ve applied all the humidity-proof products above, you can still add one more layer of protection against moisture using Infallible Pro-Set & Spray, the first makeup extender and setting spray from L’Oreal Makeup Designer/Paris. Your makeup will last all day without touch-ups, as it’s known to lock in makeup for a “just applied” look, keeping it looking fresh all day. Infallible Pro-Set & Spray is lightweight, oil-free, and non-comedogenic, just like a barely-there mist.

How to use it: After makeup application, close your eyes and spray it on the whole face in an X and T motion to set the total makeup look on face, eyes, and lips to prevent smudging and setting into lines. This is the secret of the pros!

Here’s a rare selfie to show you how all products look when I wear them (wearing my favorite Orchid Bloom Tint Caresse shade).

These products are available in L’Oreal Paris and Maybelline makeup counters in leading department stores, personal care stores, and online retailers nationwide.
