The pandemic left a lot of small businesses suffering losses or even closure. Members of my family who have their own businesses (like my brother who is managing a bar and hotdog joint in Poblacion called Wicked Dogs) are struggling to stay afloat and continue to operate and serve their loyal customers in these trying times. (So please support them!)

That’s why I made it a personal vow to always support local when I send gifts throughout the year, and especially this holiday season. In spite of this year’s challenges, we Filipinos will still buy gifts for family members and loved ones as is our tradition, and no matter how different this year’s celebrations may be from what we are used to, the spirit of giving will always be alive in all of us.

Gift Local main

This is the same thought behind Globe myBusiness’ #GiftLocal campaign that supports SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises) by encouraging Filipino consumers to purchase their gifts to family and friends from local small businesses. Let’s patronize local establishments and help Filipino SMEs bounce back from the struggles caused by the pandemic. This way, we also make our holidays—and the gifting tradition—more meaningful. Learn more in this video.

Shop local brands online at the E-Bazaar

As part of the annual Gift Local campaign that promotes buying and gifting local during the holiday season, Globe myBusiness is holding a 3-day E-Bazaar with Lazada, happening from November 27 to 29. This will feature Globe myBusiness clients and partner SMEs such as Bayongciaga, Punta Riviera Resort, Old World Food Enterprise, and Robi & Peach RTW clothing, with live selling to be streamed through Laz Live and Globe myBusiness’ Facebook page.

Shop and dine safely to win GCash credits

An even grander part of the campaign will happen as more activities and promos featuring SMEs will be rolled out by Globe myBusiness in collaboration with partner malls such as Ayala Malls and SM Premier Malls in the coming weeks. They will be made more exciting by a social media promo that encourages the public to upload their picture showing how they are keeping themselves safe with the use of face masks, face shields, and other PPEs while shopping and dining. Now that your favorite Filipino SME shops and restaurants are offering safe and accessible options, submit a photo here of how you shopped and dined safely and get a chance to win 1K GCash Credits.

Support local advocacies

Globe’s #GiftLocal likewise joins the government’s advocacy, “Ingat Angat Tayong Lahat,” which aims to restart the Philippine economy by building consumer confidence and guiding private corporations and SMEs in the best safety practices they can apply to their operations. They’ll do this by encouraging SMEs to use digital solutions in their operations to help ensure the safety of their customers and its employees. Services such as GCash for cashless transactions and KonsultaMD for employees’ telehealth service are easily made available to Globe myBusiness’ partner SMEs.

Globe is also supportive of 10 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, such as UNSDG No. 8 on decent work and economic growth.

Virtual Thanksgiving Party

Partner SMEs’ company Christmas parties can be done online, too, care of Globe myBusiness. To help partner entrepreneurs thank their employees for rising above and persevering during these extraordinary times, Globe myBusiness is inviting its clients to a virtual thanksgiving party on December 12, 2020. To join, just fill out the sign-up form, and upon completion, an email with the registration link will be sent to the employer, who can then use it to invite employees to register. Registered participants can then join the private Facebook group to watch the live concert, with special performances from guest artists, and get a chance to win gift passes and GCash credits worth P136,000!

Just like a regular company Christmas party, there will be exciting games and prizes. Lucky participants will get to play with special guest artists in battle-of-the-mind games such as Pinoy Henyo, Pixel Game, and Q&As. Early birds who tune in to the livestream early will also get a chance to score P300 GCash credits. Those who snap a selfie while watching the livestream also get a chance to win P500 GCash credits. Finally, there’s even the customary Christmas Dance-Off, where the winning team gets P80,000 worth of prizes.
